Today, Shebag has obtained an authentic Hermès Picotin 18 bag, though the color is not an exact match. We have only sourced an authentic red one, placed on the left. The bag marked ZP on the right is the top handmade replica produced by the Shebag factory.

Shebag is fully confident in side-by-side comparison with the authentic bag. Our stitching quality, hardware quality, and leather are completely identical to the genuine article.

The most classic and widely used leather for Picotin 18 is TC leather (Tourillon Clemence), followed by Togo. Both are made from adult bullhide, yet with entirely exclusive supply chains and production processes.

Only 1–2 year-old European adult bullhide is used, taken from the densest section of the back, from the shoulder to the neck. It features thick fibers, high density, rich oil content, and full grain, with a soft yet supportive “full-bodied feel” and natural matte finish that perfectly suits the relaxed, casual silhouette of the Picotin.

The raw material is sourced exclusively from a small number of century-old dedicated ranches in France and Spain, with free-range, low-density farming and strict animal welfare standards. The hides are naturally clean, free from cage scratches, insect bites, and blood veins.

Only 60% of the optimal portion of each hide is used. Every skin is manually inspected with a rejection rate exceeding 60%. Only crust leather with even grain, no looseness, no hidden defects, and precise thickness (2.0–2.2mm) is retained.

Hermès only cooperates with a small number of LWG Gold-certified tanneries in France (ALRAN, Haas) and Spain, under long-term exclusive and confidentiality agreements. Hides are supplied directly and are not available on the open market, meaning ordinary manufacturers and replicas have no access to this material.

However, Shebag has long-term partnerships with European leather suppliers. Through special channels, we are able to source top-grade leather of the same exclusive quality.
