Vert Fizz (Fall/Winter 2022 New Shade) is a fresh, bright light green with a white base, and it is highly challenging to produce without appearing tacky.

Shebag’s factory uses professional equipment to conduct precise spectral analysis on authentic Vert Fizz leather, digitizing it into a specific Pantone color code. Instead of using off-the-shelf dyes, we customize imported dyes to achieve the perfect balance between subtle gray undertones and green hues.

Epsom leather is a rigid, heat-pressed material that does not absorb water, with color applied mainly on the surface, allowing for intense and vibrant coloring. Shebag leverages this characteristic through multiple thin coats and a special color-fixing process to ensure uniform color, a smooth finish, and no discoloration or shade variation in the embossed grooves.

All color-matching and cutting procedures are performed under standardized light sources (simulating natural light) in the production workshop, ensuring the final piece delivers the authentic “luxury finish” and true tone in any environment.

Epsom is a rigid calfskin leather heat-pressed into a fine grained texture. It absorbs dye evenly, offers high color saturation and excellent color retention, making it the ideal material for light, bright shades like Bubble Green.

Only top-grade French full-grain calfskin from Haas/Annonay is used, with a strict thickness of 1.4–1.6mm. The leather features fine fibers, no blood veins, and loose areas, guaranteeing uniform dyeing.

The fine grain pattern is first heat-pressed at 120–150℃ under high pressure before dyeing. This creates consistent micro-relief across the surface, allowing more even dye penetration and preventing color buildup in the grooves or fading on flat areas.

For the exclusive Bubble Green leather pre-treatment, light degreasing and neutral pickling are applied to preserve a subtle translucent finish, preventing the shade from looking dull due to yellowish or grayish undertones in the base hide.

Bubble Green is a light mint green with extremely subtle yellow undertones (not a cool pure green). Hermès locks this shade using an exclusive color code (OS), Pantone matching, and spectrophotometric data.

Shebag uses a spectrophotometer to measure the reflectance curves of authentic leather under D65 standard light, warm light, and cool light, digitizing it into Lab* values (L≈85, a≈-5, b≈+8) to avoid color shifts from RGB/CMYK.

Shebag uses high water-permeability imported European dyes (from the same source as Hermès), mixed with a light green base, extremely small amounts of yellow and white. Dark green and blue tones are strictly prohibited to preserve the fresh, “bubbly” translucency.

All exterior panels of the Mini Kelly 2 (body, flap, handle) come from the same dye bath and leather batch to eliminate inter-panel color differences.

For base dyeing (penetration layer): low temperature (35–40℃), slow dyeing (60–90 minutes) allows dye to penetrate deep into the fiber layer rather than resting only on the surface, preventing “surface floating color”.

For top dyeing (uniform layer): medium temperature (45–50℃), short duration (20–30 minutes) to refine color, unify tone, and correct slight shade variations in embossed areas.

For final color fixation: Shebag uses acid-free fixing agents set at 60℃ to ensure resistance to washing and friction without altering the fresh translucency of Bubble Green.

After dyeing, manual light buffing and local touch-ups are performed to address minor color buildup in grain grooves, ensuring consistent tone without light-dark patches under all lighting conditions.

Thick coatings are strictly prohibited in Shebag’s workshop. The natural subtle matte finish of Epsom is preserved, with a delicate translucent sheen. Bubble Green must be “bright but not greasy, translucent but not flat”.

All panels of the Mini Kelly 2 are cut and inspected under D65 standard natural light; warm or cool light is strictly forbidden to prevent visual color differences.

Leather quality remains paramount. Shebag selects the same grade of full-grain calfskin at 1.4–1.6mm, with precise heat-pressed fine grain before dyeing, fully replicating the intrinsic properties of authentic Epsom leather.
